Introduction

The Kaiserliche Feldjäger (Imperial Field Hunters) are the military police force of the Armed Forces of Imperial Germany. The Kaiserliche Feldjäger operate under the overall command of the Kriegsmacht.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Kaiserliche Feldjäger include: Enforcement of Military Law: The Feldjäger are responsible for enforcing military regulations and discipline within the Armed Forces. They conduct investigations into breaches of military law and apprehended offenders with the appropriate probable cause/warrants.

Security and Order Maintenance: They maintain security in military installations, camps, and other facilities. This includes patrolling, guarding, and controlling access to sensitive areas. This mainly involves ensuring the full security of the ICC and the Bendlerblock.

Prisoner Handling: Feldjäger personnel are often tasked with the transportation and guarding of prisoners/detainees under military jurisdiction, especially leading up to a military trial.

Checkpoint Control: In addition to their policing duties, the Feldjäger also regulate and ensure full security to military premises in the form of guarding checkpoints bordering military installations/property.

Organisation and Structure

The Kaiserliche Feldjager can be identified separately from ordinary Heer members via their orange cuff titles, piping, Feldjager patches and gorgets. The Feldjäger play a crucial and regularly upheld role in maintaining order and enforcing military standards within the Imperial German Army. The Feldjager have jurisdiction over the Heer, Luftwaffe and members of the Kriegsmacht (except General ranking officers, unless given permission by the proper authority).
