Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Protectorate

The Commander-in-Chief (German: Oberbefehlshaber) of the Imperial American Protectorate is the highest-ranking officer of the American Armed Forces in North America. Responsible for the leadership of the Imperial War Authority forces within the Protectorate, the Commander-in-Chief, under the stewardship of the Lord Protector, ensures the defense of the American people and acts as the Supreme Defensive Authority of the Capital.

History

With the capitulation of the United States of America and the signing of the Americas Treaty, the title of Commander-in-Chief was created by an act of the Imperial American Congress in 1948 known as the P.A.T.R.O.T Act.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Protectorate is headquartered on the outskirts of the Capitol of the Protectorate, New York City. His military base, known as the Outer City Compound or "The Dreadfort", was built shortly after the establishment of his office and authority within the Protectorate.

Responsibilities of the Commander-in-Chief

- A Councilor in the New York City Council

- Responsible for the total mobilization and uniform leadership of the Imperial War Authority forces within the Protectorate.

- Ensures the security, administration, and operation of all logistics, procurements, and wartime resources within the Protectorate.

- If the Governor of New York is incapacitated or otherwise unable or unwilling to mobilize the division in times of national emergency or insurrection, the Commander-in-Chief may activate it.

- While activated, the National Guard is afforded the authority to enforce civil order, augment police forces, and other authorities as deemed necessary by the Commander-in-Chief

- Responsible for the plenary security and oversight of the areas surrounding the municipality of the Capital of the Protectorate.
