Introduction
The Kaiserliche Luftwaffe (Imperial Air Force), also called the Luftstreitskrafte (Air Armed Service) or just Luftwaffe, is one of the three primary components of the Armed Forces, alongside the Kaiserliche Heer and the Kriegsmarine. The Luftwaffe act as the aviation wing of the Armed Forces, although not having any usable aircraft on the server. They are easily recognizable for their blue uniforms.
Composition and Organization
The composition of the Luftwaffe is inspired by that of the Heer, with frequent changes in organization. Division-sized and air-wing-sized units tend to co-exist.
Role in Imperial Germany
The Luftwaffe was created during the Spartacist Uprising as a way for the anti-communist forces to dominate the skies. Due to the political affiliations of much of the pre-war air force with aristocratic links, the Luftwaffe was perhaps the branch of the Armed Forces which showed the most loyalty to the Imperial forces. After the end of the Uprising, they were made a formal branch of the Armed Forces in 1921 alongside the creation of the Air Defense Ministry, which they are closely associated with.
