Ministry of Truth

Introduction

The Ministry of Truth is one of the ten Federal Ministries which comprise the Imperial Chancellery. It is headed by the Truth Minister, who oversees a wide array of responsibilities related to the control and dissemination of information. The ministry manages public broadcasts, publications, and censorship, ensuring that all media content aligns with the state's official narrative. Beyond its regulatory functions, the Ministry of Truth plays a key role in shaping public opinion by crafting propaganda campaigns, maintaining cultural uniformity, and suppressing dissenting viewpoints. Through its influence on the press, radio, literature, and other forms of communication, the ministry works to cultivate a cohesive national identity and preserve the stability of the empire by controlling the flow of information and molding the perceptions of its citizens.

Organization of the Ministry

The MOT is comprised of six offices, in order of establishment:

• Disinformation Governance Board, known as the Censorship Board
• Office for Public Information
• Imperial Printing Office
• Imperial Patent Office
• Public Education Office
• Public Good Office

Disinformation Governance Board

The Censorship Board is the primary governmental body responsible for overseeing and enforcing censorship within the realm. It holds broad authority to regulate and suppress speech, publications, and communications deemed harmful or subversive to the state's interests. If, for example, an entity such as the Ministry of Agriculture were to slander the Ministry of Interior with untruthful accusations, the Censorship Board has the power to intervene, imposing restrictions on the offending ministry. These restrictions can range from limiting the dissemination of information to a complete temporary ban on public communications. The duration of such censorship is typically determined by the official or committee overseeing the case, with considerations based on the severity of the offense and its potential impact on public perception or inter-ministerial relations.

Beyond intergovernmental disputes, the Censorship Board also monitors civilian media, literature, art, and public discourse to ensure that all messaging aligns with the state's ideological and political directives. Individuals or organizations found to be spreading misinformation, inciting unrest, or undermining the authority of the empire may face severe penalties, including permanent bans or legal repercussions. By controlling the flow of information and enforcing strict boundaries on acceptable discourse, the Censorship Board ensures the stability and integrity of the state's official narrative, safeguarding the unity and authority of the government.
