Hans Albrecht Lebermann

Hans Albrecht Lebermann was born on December 13th, 1915, to the Lebermann family, a wealthy aristocratic family located on the outskirts of Berlin. Lebermann is mostly remembered for his short tenure as the Commander of the Volkssicherheitskräfte (VSK) in the Imperial American protectorate. He was known for his short temper, his constant refusal to mingle with the Americans, and his quick demise into madness that led to his death on October 18th, 1962.

Early life and Education

Hans Albrecht Lebermann was born on December 13th, 1901, to the Lebermann family, a wealthy aristocratic family located on the outskirts of Berlin. His family owned multiple textile mills that made many of the uniforms for the German military before and during the First World War, and subsequently were massive supporters of the "White Rose Coalition" during the Red Terror that took hold of the nation in fear.

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Lebermann had an easy life growing up in Berlin. He was known as a good child, which seemed perfectly fine, but after the Battle of Berlin on December 25th, 1919, at just four years old, he watched as his house was destroyed and many of his family members were burned to a crisp. After this tragic incident, it is stated that Lebermann changed, leading to a diagnosis of Haltlose personality disorder years later. His erratic behavior and lack of inhibition would be the very thing that later would get him killed in the Protectorate.

His family would rebuild during the Rose Miracle; Lebermann would join his family's textile business, being made its Vice-President of marketing in 1935. His family would regret this choice, however, as Lebermann had no experience in marketing nor was a savant when it came to it. His first major marketing stunt would be creating a German Youth Fund that would directly lead to a class-action lawsuit against the family business. The court documents were sealed, and a settlement was made, but Lebermann would always stand that "it was an unfair attack on my family business."

Lebermann left his family business after the marketing debacle in 1936. In 1937, Lebermann started attending Heidelberg University, where his family had many ties, leading historians to believe nepotism was involved in his getting into the University. He graduated in 1941 with a degree in Theater Studies, immediately enlisting in the Volkssicherheitskräfte.

He would be noted for his fighting in the Second World War on the Russian Front. But many of his military records were lost or locked away. Sources state he had many embarrassing confrontations or outbursts that were erased from the record with his family's help. After the fall of the United States and the end of World War Two, Lebermann was stationed in the Americas with the "Bahr" division in the new capital of the Imperial American protectorate. His efforts in assisting the National Security Bureau office in New York would get him moved up to the Commander of the VSK on October 10th, 1962.

Commander of the VSK

His short tenure as the Commander of the VSK in the Imperial American Protectorate would be remembered as a strong but wary reign. After his fighting on the Russian front lines, his old illness would come back, stronger than ever, making him unpredictable, and his actions would only get him into trouble with the Commissioner General of the Protectorate.

Raid on the NYPD Precinct

His most notable action as the Commander of the VSK was when he took over 30 members of the Volkssicherheitskräfte and stormed the office of the New York City Police Commissioner in their precinct. It was believed that a detective of the NYPD called Lebermann an "old man" and "not fit for office." From that point on, Lebermann would be known as "old man Hans," which only made his mind deteriorate.

Death of Hans Lebermann

On October 18th, 1962, Hans Lebermann was last seen running into the ongoing council chambers, blabbering about something, where he was then helped to the Commissioner General's Office. He then suddenly died in that office of a cardiac arrest. An autopsy report on Lebermann would come to conclude his mind deteriorated quickly once becoming the Commander of the VSK, which led to his heart failing after climbing all the stairs of Victory Tower to the council chambers. He was remembered as a spry and robust "old man."
