==Office of the Chief Justice==
The Chief Justice (German: ''Oberrichter'') of the Court of New York is the highest-ranking judicial authority within the Capitol of the Protectorate. Appointed by the [[Governor of New York]], the Chief Justice is responsible for the upkeep of the judiciary, the publication of the Criminal Code, and the appointment of judges.

==History==

- A member of the New York City Council

- Oversees all courts and judicial conduct within the region of New York

- Appoints the Chief Administrative Judge (responsible for the daily administration of the judiciary) and all judges within the Capitol of the Protectorate. May delegate this power.

- Directs and controls the Supreme Court of New York, the highest appellate and criminal body of the judiciary.

- Must sign off on all lawbooks, criminal codes, and other applicable legal materials before their ratification.

- In conjunction with the [[Public Advocate of New York]], they shall establish the qualifications required to become an attorney or judge.
